Low calorie salads are one of those foods that pops into my mind when thinking of losing weight. I used to think salads were good for you no matter the toppings, including high calorie dressing.  Of course that’s not the case.  Low calorie salad recipes are essential when you want to create a weight loss meal.

Below are a few of my favorite low calorie salads.  Try them out and let me know what you think.

Low Calorie Chicken Salad

150 calories per serving
Makes 1 serving

Ingredients: chickensalad Low calorie salads
5 oz premium chicken breast in water
2 tbs light mayo (I like the Olive oil variety)
1 cup diced celery
1 tbs diced onion (I use sweet onion)

Drain chicken and mix all ingredients together.

Spinach Salad

75 calories per serving
Makes 4 servings

Ingredients: spinachsalad Low calorie salads
2 cups spinach
1/2 cup chopped dried apricots
2 tbs sunflower seeds
3 tbs orange juice (I prefer no pulp)
1 tbs balsamic vinegar
2 1/2 tbs low fat plain yougurt

Tear up the spinach in a large bowl.  Add the apricots and sunflower seeds.  Mix the orange juice, yogurt, and vinegar in a separate bowl.  Pour the mixture over the spinach mixture.  Add salt and pepper to taste.  Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.

Vegetable Salad

55 calories per serving
Makes 8 servings

Ingredients: vegetablesalad Low calorie salads
3 cups chopped broccoli
1 tomato, cut into 8ths
1 onion, sliced
1 cup sliced celery
15 oz can mushrooms, drained
3/4 cup fat-free Italian salad dressing

Mix all ingredients together.  Make sure to cover vegetables with the dressing.  Refrigerate at least 4 hours before eating.

Awesome salad recipes — I’ll definitely be trying them!! I especially like that they look family friendly too so we can all eat the same thing!

Hmmm this recipe looks so delicious and nice and i think that fits perfect with my taste and in my opinion is a very easy recipe, so i think i will try it. Thanks for sharing.
