PinExt Dairy free diet for weight loss

So you are thinking of starting a dairy free diet for weight loss and you ended here. Welcome! You probably already know that dairy products are high in calories and fat so going dairy free will help you lose weight. It’s also a lot easier than most think.

Drinking milk and consuming dairy aides in fat accumulation. When you want to lose weight, the last thing you want is fat accumulation.  To be fair, there are low-fat and non-fat varieties of dairy products but these are still a problem with those that are lactose intolerant.

Also, if you have trouble with gas, heart burn, diarrhea/constipation, and/or stomach pain you may be lactose intolerant.  Our bodies are normally lactose intolerant (unable to digest lactose, the sugar in milk) after infancy.  Going on a diary free diet will help relieve these symptoms and make you feel better overall. You’ll be more energetic and your stomach will thank you.

What the heck do I eat? Good question.  Well you can’t eat milk, cheese, yogurt, cream, butter and anything made with those products. Luckily, there are tons of dairy substitutes like almond milk, rice cheese and even fruit puree.  Most can be substituted in any recipe.  I, personally love almond milk. It’s so thick but low in fat (zero saturated fat and cholesterol).

A sample meal plan would be:

Breakfast: Eggs, Turkey bacon, whole grain toast with fresh fruit.
Lunch: Tuna on flatbread with carrots
Dinner: Grilled chicken, steamed brocolli, squash.  Orange sorbet for dessert
Snacks: Raw veggies, nuts and popcorn

Drink plenty of water and make sure to get some calcium either with a supplement or by drinking some almond milk.  Yum.

A dairy free diet for weight loss isn’t that hard, is it? Try it and remember, low-fat and non-fat dairy products are also not a bad choice.
